Sand Delivery!

Today Nathaniel's Dad delivered the sand to fill up our sandpit.  We all helped shovel the sand out of the trailer.  We even had enough sand left over to fill up the long jump pit.  Now we can learn, discover and play in our special outdoor space.

Thank you Nathaniel's Dad (and his mum who organised the delivery!).

Putting the legs on the sandpit

Mr Bennett cut us some wood to make the legs of the sandpit.

Mr Boase screwed the legs onto the bottom of the sandpit so that the water could drain out.

Putting in the sandpit liner

Today we put the weedmat in to the sandpit. This is so the sand doesn't fall through the drainage holes but water will still drain out.

Making our sandpit prototype

We have started making our 'practice' sandpit.  Since we don't have $30,000 we are making a little sandpit so that we can show everyone how much we love playing in the sand and how fun it would be to have an amazing sandpit to play in at Waiuku Primary School.
Measuring where the holes need to go.

Drawing lines all the way to the bottom.  We had to match up the two measurements to make sure our lines were straight.

Marking the place where the across lines and the up and down lines met up with a cross.

Drilling the drainage holes.

Showing the rest of the class.

Marking the triangles out with masking tape.

Painting the triangles.

It looks amazing so far!
